Recognizing First Time Efforts

May 6, 2018

To begin with I want to congratulate Evan Spooner who took one class from me shortly after I did a demonstration painting session at the College of S. Idaho. Evan watched me paint for a long time and I think purchased one of my paintings. He then decided that he wanted to try his hand at it and painted this painting.

Evan entered his painting in the Art & Soul Twin Falls competition. He was in the middle school division. I have just learned that his entry was picked by the public as the runner up and I think he received a cash award of $75.00. Kudo’s to Evan.  I hope that more of my students will consider entering their works in other competitions.

So, FIRST PAINTING resulted in a second place.

I have another FIRST that I want to share with you.

Meet Janet Milligan who took her first Joy of Painting Class from me this past Friday. Janet loves art and tells me that she watches some type of painting program on TV every night…  When she learned that I was available to teach these classes, she was so excited. Needless to say, she turned out to be an excellent student and I anticipate that her skills will develop rapidly. Here is her first painting.

Most of my students come to me by referral. If you know of someone who would be interested in a class, please encourage them to look at my web site: You can find it at https://jopwithpat.org.

Thank you
